New toy alert on the horizon, and quite eerie if we may say so. Medicom Toy is releasing the Evangelion 1.0 Lilith Figure.
In fact, the Medicom Toy has just opened the pre-order for this quite big version of Lilith from Evangelion 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone. With a height of 16 inches (40 cm) this spooky vinyl figure sees Lilith impaled by the famous Spear of Longinus on the Terminal Dogma cross.
Now, for some of you who don’t know what is it, here’s a brief look at this popular series.
The story goes like this. In a post-apocalyptic world, the last remaining human settlement in Japan is the heavily fortified city of Tokyo-3. Fourteen-year-old Shinji Ikari is brought to the headquarters of Nerv, which is an underground organization led by his estranged father, Gendou. He requests that Shinji become a pilot of an “Evangelion,” a colossal android built to fight against monstrous and destructive alien creatures known as “Angels” that wreak havoc on the planet and threaten the survival of the remaining human race. Now we get to the Angels.
Lilith is designated as the 2nd Angel. Like Adam, Lilith is a Seed of Life, created by the First Ancestral Race billions of years ago. Thus, Lilith is actually a co-equal being to Adam. The other Angels are the progeny of Adam, but Lilith is the progenitor of the “Lilin”: humans. Lilith’s face is covered with a mask on which are drawn the seven eyes of a symbol called the Seele emblem. Lilith has the appearance of a white, anthropomorphic giant whose hands are nailed to a red cross.
Instead of lower limbs, it has small, humanoid legs. In its chest is a weapon called the Spear of Longinus; due to this and the crucifixion, Lilith has been compared to Christ. When the spear is extracted, the stump part of Lilith’s body instantly regenerates. Few people know Lilith’s true identity; even those who know about its existence are made to believe it is Adam, the first Angel.
Sculpted by CCP, the fantastic vinyl toy is scheduled for an October 2022 release with pre-orders starting soon at 2B Art Gallery.
