Oh boy, we got a good one today. Sorayama, Marvel, and Metropolis fans behold – The new Iron Man figure.
Coming out of the blue, this latest collab brings us a new “Iron Man Hajime Sorayama Metropolis Variant Ver.” figure. What a time to be alive.
After the major success of the Iron Man Bearbrick figure, Medicom Toy and Hajime Sorayama are back on it again.
Characterized by Sorayama’s distinctive style, this version of Iron Man is classified as the “Metropolis Variant”. This special-edition Iron Man figure is 43 cm high (around 17 inches) and it has some dope features as well. We are talking about super-cool LED lights on the eyes, chest, and palms (that’s brilliant, isn’t it). Other details include spiked antennas protruding from the ears and Iron Man engraved in Kanji on the quad plate.
Honestly, though, we’re just glad this beauty exists. It’s so amazing, incredibly detailed with some excellent paintwork. Hajime Sorayama’s art is exploring human sexuality, our relationship with robots, and our hyperbolized perception of beauty and desire. His robots consist of a notion of humanity and sexuality, underlined by the materiality of our contemporary world.
Now, combine all that with Marvel’s character Iron Man and add the elegance of the Metropolis robots – the result can’t go wrong. It is rumored that the Iron Man Hajime Sorayama Metropolis Variant statue will arrive exclusively at 2G Tokyo for ¥327,800 JPY (around $2878 USD), and is expected to release sometime in March this year.
So guys, stay tuned for more updates and news and look forward to this astonishing figure (cause we surely will).
